EL Teacher Of RecordThe EL Teacher of Record position was established to create educator partnerships and better understanding of English Learners' culture and background to best serve their academic, language and emotional needs. These goals will be achieved by assisting with instruction, assessment, curriculum, classroom management, professional development, technical assistance, and family & community engagement.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Licensed teacher EL endorsement/experience preferredBilingual/Multilingual preferredCollaborative and willing to work with multiple teachers possibly across several buildingsHighly organized with the ability to communicate effectivelyKnowledge and understanding of the law and NESP and Title III requirementsKnowledge of second language acquisition and the acculturation processStrong understanding of WIDA standards/assessmentsJOB DETAILS:Schools: Longfellow New Tech Elementary School, Calumet New Tech High SchoolApplication Deadline: Until FilledSalary: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per yearGrades: Elementary and High SchoolSubjects: Academic Support, Other: Student Support, ENL/ESLDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Work with EL students providing English language development instructionCollaborate with teachers to build their capacity to effectively instruct English Learners in the classroomDevelop core knowledge among all teachers and administrators in regards to second language acquisition and promote practices that celebrate both cultures and languagesOffer English Learner support within the classroom to create opportunities for joint productive activities between ELs and their native-English speaking peersAssist teachers in implementation of WIDA standards in the classroomAssist in administering WIDA Screener, WIDA ACCESS, Kindergarten ACCESS, and Alternate ACCESSEnsure that LAU requirements are met within the general educational settingAssist in development and implementation of ILP goals and accommodationsAssist in the acquisition of resources that reflect students' linguistic and cultural diversityCommunicate with families about EL program-related information in a timely manner and in accordance with state and federal regulationsProvide family outreachDirect instructional assistants in providing an effective EL program that addresses the needs of individual studentsAssist in coordinating building and district level program development and reviewProvide EL expertise in meetings regarding EL students' behavior (MTSS), EL students with disabilities (Case conferences), EL students being referred for Special Education evaluation, EL students being recommended for retention, EL students who are also high ability, and other school-based processes pertaining to EL students.Remain current in the latest educational research, especially in second language acquisitionPerform other related duties as assignedBenefits per the Lake Ridge New Tech Schools Collective Bargaining Agreement.
